6:00 PM I was right. Tightening those two bolts did it. For the first time i smelled the smell of the ocean again in the parking lot at Chinook, after going briefly inside. But when i got back inside the car, it was still stinking mainly like oil to me in that moment. It will take a while until the car starts clearing.
More than that, something unexpected happen. I started to have noticeably more power with pressing gas pedal and the mileage got even better than before this summer. Now i am trying to remember since when it went down so badly (around 37 per long trips), and 39 after i replaced the spark plugs.
Explanation could be. Vibration of the upper part of the cover could translate into fooling the MAP sensor and generally loosing vacuum by the spark plug seals.
On the trip between Florence and here i did 41.2 (trip report) and that during day time with many stop lights and some city traffic in the way. At Walmart in Newport i had more than 43 but then maneuvering in the parking lot there, at Chinook, getting mad and accelerating uphill to pass some guys on the hills of Cascade Mountatain range, etc..
