8:48 Fall equinox, daylight time equals night. From now on days are getting shorter than nights until December 21 when the process start reversing. What a beautiful glorious day in Nevada, California and Oregon. Maybe too hot for this time of the year some would say.
We left Peppermill at 10 something.
Besides tightening the spark plugs there which was good, they are now finally holding (more about this later), i made one more mistake. I wrote about, ignoring one of the first lessons i learned while coming in the US. Do not volunteer information. Will talk about later.
For the second and third day at Peppermill. They reserved 2 or 3 sections of the parking lot for a convention of cops. Some from Antioch CA. They were maybe 30 Police cars and several others Sheriff's, maybe up to ten. I took this picture while passing, a bit moved.
9:02 So when we left this morning i kept pointing the scene to Angela but she was too mad to even look. After playing for three days, more than 10 hours a day, she was going back with 200 dollar minus (yes 100 minus was my contribution but i only had to play a couple of hours with the same result).
Talking like that i did not even see the Police car behind me. At the intersection of Hubbard and Virginia i was on the wrong lane to make a right turn, for some reason i was thinking left in that moment and one thousand other things and Angela suddenly realized and started to yell at me. So i turned the wheel but i saw with the corner of my eye a moving black mass sneaking in that right lane from behind and turned the wheel back around. Then i waited for that to pass and finally moved and when i looked at the place i was a second before i saw a Police SUV.
Angela started to yell at me even more and then we yelled at each other but could not convince her she made a mistake by yelling at the driver and i saved the day, the week, month and year.
It took her hours to start forgetting her loss of money and time. But then she said, it is covered by the price of the room. But that room was not like the others we got before also for free. Must have been at least 300 or more a night. Not taking into account that fact that Cindy Crawford might have been our next door neighbor (i only had the chance to see her face for about one second and not in the best of light).
Same problem with choking in there. Hotels like that built in the 70s are indeed magnificent. Steel and marble (and some plastic) and of course the dreaded wall to wall carpet with recycled padding under. They are supposedly pumping fresh air in the corridors and from there in the rooms (mainly though the space under doors).
When we got in there i first noticed a smell of dust like it has just been vacuumed but without the final filter on. I done it several times before i started to use bags which are a filter in themselves. Then i pulled from the suitcase the OION, a small electrostatic filter with UV inside. It helped in the first day but then Angela wanted to turn on the AC and i know the radiators inside (coils, heat exchangers whatever) are loaded with dust, probably never cleaned in 50 years. What else can i say.
Besides fresh air being very little and coming from the corridor, which is also wall to wall carpet and then evacuated through bathroom.

Ok let's jump in time at 3:15 PM. Must have been here (we thought we were 25 miles away from I5).
Google cars have cameras high above ground, but 89 in that area is like a roller coaster and from a car as low as ours you can oftenly not see on the other side of the hill you are climbing.
So just after the top of the hill closest to this intersection, i saw a black thin guy raising literally from the ground, in the middle of the road, first in four and then jumping and standing while a vehicle comming from right stopped at the intersection waiting for him to clear the road.
And yes a white SUV was pushing with high beams on from behind and i was doing 75. I don't believe i could have avoided him if he was laying on the road, sunbathing, whatever when he finally went became visible given the speed.
9:29 We stopped at a rest area (position later) in the bottom of a desert valley. Because i became obsessed with the spark plugs. I had difficulty removing the coil from one of them. The plugs themselves now are firm and stabilized. However i saw oil at the gromets at cylinder 1 and 4. Like always i layed the harness of the coil on the exhaust manifold shield (not hot at the time) and could have touched with those the harness for the first oxygen sensor.
A California i believe Highway Patrol black SUV stopped (i was pretty tired by that time) and the officer after watching me from a distance for quite some time came and asked me what i was doing, seeming concerned.
I told him the story with the spark plugs and he did not seem to buy it and asked me if i had misfires and that showed a certain level of expertise though he looked young and i told him "no, i act only on a suspicion that one of then might blow out" (and that came from deep inside my subconscious which this time did a favor to me and cause he suddenly left wishing me a good rest of the day. (Yes i had my back turn towards the car and Angela from inside could not see the engine compartment because the hood was popped).
Which rest of the day did not prove very good. Besides the harassment on the road which is normal to me, the check engine light came on right after that episode and first i thought i might have screwed something while messing with the coils and when i put the scanner on it showed me a faulty oxygen sensor. I cleared that code and went further to Canyonville where i am right now and though the error is still on with the scanner, it takes some time (hours) to turn into a code.
The narrow band upstream oxygen sensor itself shows around 0.8 Volts, firm, while the wide band one shows between 0 and -1 mA.
So. This car has 2 upstream sensors and the second (wide band one) is still working showing a permanent rich condition, which means loss of power like when needed like when passing stinking fast moving trucks which takes almost one mile to do it which i done several times today without much difficulty though they were all accelerating.
And yes i think i have an idea who that guy might have been. I met with him in the same place last time, he wearing a different disguise. But he was wearing shorts and his knees weren't very flattering. I believe they can't do lipo @knees, now can they.
No it was too far to blow Mt.Shasta with my ignition coils and other alien devices. Could have done it when i passed real close to it, like in Weed (yes there is such a place, it is California, what do you expect).

10:50 Can at least imagine you are laughing when you are reading all this.
11:11 A couple of miles before veering out of I5 towards 7 feathers. Doing about 75 in the left lane with featuring a dog with its head stuck out of the window in our direction. I was thinking in that moment the saliva from that dog must spread in the air but was too tired to react (should have slowed right away for example and put some distance in between). Now my f...ts smell like dog. Again.
