The knob i had in the bathroom was already on top of an adapotr and they were other knobs that would have worked with it if i took that adapter off. 11:05 Am văzut în ultimul timp poze cu autostrăzi care sunt gata dar nu sunt deschise de politicienii sabotori și trădători.

Am mai remarcat un lucru. Ele nu au "bandă de urgență", shoulder cum se spune în SUA pe ambele părți ale unei direcții de circulat. În SUA practic la autostrăzile cu 2 benzi pe sens mai sunt și două benzi de urgență pe sens, care uneori sunt mai late decât benzile de circulat, autostrada practic fiind dublu de lată.

Nu cred că sunt atât de importante pentru urgențe, cât în siguranța și confortul conducerii. Adică eu nu m-aș simți prea confortabil acum dacă vin în România și conduc cu 120 sau 130 kmh (așa cum se conduce în majoritatea cazurilor în Oregon, în California și Washington cu mai mult) și am în stânga jumătate de metru sau un metru până la parapet.

Iar în zonele în care nu există spațiu suficient, ca aici (în statul Washington) unde sunt 3 benzi pe sens, sau în zone urbane, poduri, etc., este sacrificat shoulder-ul din dreapta, nu cel din stânga, fiindcă pe banda din stânga se circulă cu viteză mai mare.

Mai sunt și striațiile, care "te trezesc" dacă ai depășit linia.

Asta e, la fel în toată Europa. E adevărat, americanii au mai mult teren, dar de exemplu autostrata I5 (I de la Interstate) traversează valea Willamette-ului, singura zonă fertilă din Oregon, care e 2/3 deșert.

12:10 PM Every time i drove to California or even neighboring Nevada i noticed streets are whiter by a few shades when compared to Portland area so white in fact are blinding under the bright California Sun.

Yes some of them are paved with concrete which is inherently whiter than asphalt.

But not because of painting which BTW i think too is a terrible idea (by a totally different reason) that may work on short term, like a summer or two, maybe, because, well, paint peels under the tremendous stress from millions of cars wheels and we may end up breathing it, like different materials used in asphalt, but because UV lightens up the existing asphalt.

The same as it happens with the famous California golden grass. You can see even in this picture the asphalt underneath the paint is already gray or light brown.

Yeah i would think they could use a ceramic paint that has the same composition as paint used for street marking that could last several years. Breathing zircon could be better than breathing silica from asphalt and concrete fillers? And let's not forget the blinding effect on the drivers.

2:40 Today, some 14 years after i wrote it i reviewed this blog post and made extensive corrections to improve readability simply because my English evolved a lot in 14 years of blog writing (thank you for your patience LOL).

Do not know if i eliminated all errors but after two passes i got tired. Did not change anything in the lists of words which generally is correct.

2:30 I hear the sound of a blower in the distance. So they started. Today is Wednesday, when after 2 they are blowing the parking lot of dust which may end on grass areas or on buildings and mow the grass in grass areas. More than 100dB at source, they will howl for the next to hours at the end of which i will need to hose the AC and window screens and whatever else.
