Not much, barely enough to raise attention. I don't know how much it cost Ukraine to launch such attack.
What i know, there is a strip of land next to Ukraine, at the eastern border of Moldova (Moldova before Soviet Union was part of Romania, with the same language, and Russian and Ukrainian minorities, though not as strong as Russian minority in currently occupied territories in eastern Ukraine) that is guarded by 1500 troops stationed there since the end of Cold War and Soviet Union that is a perennial treat and psychological unease for Romania.
Why did Zelenskyy let that completely surrounded, basically unguarded Russian controlled quite big strip of land (red on second map, pink here) in the hands of Russians and preferred to invade in east in Kursk, contiguous Russia? Simple, because Transnistria is juridically part of Moldova though controlled by Russia and technically would have been like attacking Moldova.
Why did not Moldova ceded that completely useless piece of land to Ukraine in exchange maybe for other territory like the two southern counties that belonged to Moldova are now are in Ukraine.so they can clear the Russians out of that region?
Romanian president just talked with Zelenskyy and is travelling soon to Kiev to show support for Ukraine in the announced negotiations, been a couple of days ago to a festival in Moldova, completely ignoring Moldova's and implicitly Romania's interest in Russian occupied Transnistria, juridically part of Moldova, occupation that never ended since Cold War, and was there way before Russo-Ukrainian war (second map).
Some say that piece of land prevented re-unification of Romania with Moldova after the fall of Soviet Union which included Moldova, and that is the only purpose for the occupation.
